Jérémy Jacquet has officially completed his transfer to Liverpool from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais, with the move formalised on July 1, 2026. The 20-year-old French centre-back joins in a deal worth up to £60m.
The switch to Anfield was struck on an initial £55m (€60m) fee, with a further £5m (€10m) in performance-related add-ons taking the total package to £60m (roughly €70m).
Jacquet has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, running until 2031, with the club holding an option for a sixth season extending the arrangement to 2032.
The agreement was actually sealed during the winter window, with a pre-contract announced on February 2, 2026. Jacquet saw out the remainder of the 2025, 26 campaign at Rennes before completing the switch this month.
Liverpool won a competitive race for the defender's signature, seeing off strong interest from both Chelsea and Bayern Munich to land one of Europe's most promising young centre-backs.
Crucially, the injury concerns that clouded the deal have eased. Jacquet suffered a serious dislocated shoulder shortly after the February agreement, an issue that ruled him out for the rest of his final Rennes season.
He has since completed his rehabilitation and is undergoing individual fitness work. He is expected to be fully fit to feature from the start of Liverpool's pre-season programme, the first under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
"I feel really good, the first impressions are good and I am very happy to start here, " Jacquet said. "When I see the facilities, I can see myself there. For me it's a big dream, it's a big club.
A club like Liverpool, it's a big dream for me."
The signing serves as a direct replacement for Ibrahima Konaté, who left Anfield on a free transfer at the expiry of his contract to join Real Madrid. Jacquet slots into a group led by captain Virgil van Dijk.
He joins a centre-back department that also features Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni. Leoni, whose debut season was wrecked by an ACL injury against Southampton in September, is also expected fit for pre-season.
Born in Bondy in July 2005, Jacquet is a France Under-21 international with five caps and was named in the Team of the Tournament at the 2024 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, where France reached the final.
The youngster made 31 senior appearances for Rennes after debuting in January 2024, having also gained experience during a loan spell at Clermont Foot. He will now report for pre-season as Liverpool build under Iraola.
