Casemiro's move to Inter Miami is complete, with the three-year deal set to be officially signed and announced in the coming days, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano broke the "here we go" exclusive on June 20, 2026, confirming that a verbal agreement had been sealed and all formal steps resolved between the player and the MLS club.
The Brazilian arrives on a free transfer, with his Manchester United contract officially expiring on June 30, 2026, allowing him to leave Old Trafford without a fee.
The agreement is expected to run through December 2028, with some reports mentioning an option for an additional season as Inter Miami bolster their Lionel Messi-led squad.
Crucially, Casemiro is set to join on a non-Designated Player deal, with Inter Miami's three DP slots already occupied by Messi, Rodrigo De Paul and Germán Berterame.
As a result, his initial salary is expected to be capped under $2 million to comply with MLS roster and budget rules, dampening earlier inflated wage speculation.
Early reports from Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte claimed a significant salary increase, while one rumour suggested an €80 million per season package, but analysts dismissed those figures as incompatible with MLS regulations.
The transfer was briefly delayed by MLS "discovery rights", with LA Galaxy holding Casemiro's rights within the league system before Inter Miami negotiated compensation to acquire them.
Reports indicate that fee is expected to fall between roughly $1 million and £750, 000 (€870, 000), clearing the final administrative hurdle to the deal.
Casemiro chose Inter Miami to play alongside Messi, drawn by the club's competitive project, a family-friendly environment and a less intense schedule than European football.
The MLS secondary transfer window opens on July 13, 2026, which is the earliest date the midfielder can be officially registered and make his debut for the club.
With the paperwork now a formality, the official announcement should follow shortly.
