Edon Zhegrova scored the only goal as Juventus beat Chelsea 1-0 in their pre-season friendly at Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong to continue their strong summer form.
The defeat marked back-to-back pre-season losses for Chelsea under Xabi Alonso following their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last time out and left the Blues with clear adjustments to make ahead of the new campaign.
Juventus, meanwhile, extended their perfect pre-season run to three consecutive victories and clean sheets with another disciplined defensive display in humid conditions in Hong Kong.
Veteran forward Danny Welbeck featured for Chelsea in attack on his first appearance for the club after joining this summer and offered a focal point during the first half.
Chelsea struggled to create clear chances after the break as Juventus grew in confidence and began to control possession in midfield despite Alonso making a series of changes to spark his attack.
The breakthrough arrived in the 68th minute when Kenan Yildiz found Zhegrova outside the penalty area and the winger punished Chelsea with a moment of quality.
Zhegrova shifted the ball onto his left foot and curled a stunning effort from outside the box into the top left corner leaving the Chelsea goalkeeper with no chance to make the save.
Chelsea pushed for an immediate equaliser but Juventus defended resolutely to preserve their lead and secure another clean sheet in the closing stages of the contest at Kai Tak Sports Park.
For Alonso, the result leaves further questions after consecutive defeats, with the Blues still searching for rhythm ahead of the 2026-27 campaign following a disrupted summer of heavy rotation and new arrivals.
Juventus will take confidence from their third straight win without conceding, while the friendly offered both clubs valuable minutes in Hong Kong as preparations continue for the return of competitive football later this month.
