Bayern München held off a late Aston Villa fightback to secure a 2-1 victory in their pre-season friendly in Hong Kong. Kim Min-Jae and Luis Diaz scored for the Bundesliga champions at Kai Tak Sports Park.
The contest brought the Asian leg of pre-season to a close for both sides in front of 38, 176 supporters at Kai Tak Sports Park.
Vincent Kompany's Bayern arrived after beating Jeju United, while Unai Emery's Villa continued preparations for the new Premier League season.
Kim Min-Jae opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a glancing header for Bayern München. The defender met a dangerous cross from Tom Bischof and directed it into the net from close range.
Villa stayed in the contest thanks to a superb double save from Bizot in the 66th minute. The goalkeeper denied Bayern twice in quick succession to keep the deficit at 1-0.
Luis Diaz doubled Bayern München's advantage in the 73rd minute after coming off the bench. Diaz worked his way into the Aston Villa box before finishing with an excellent strike.
Joao Gomes pulled a goal back for Aston Villa in the 83rd minute to set up a tense finale. The summer arrival found the net from outside the box for a late consolation.
Tammy Abraham was denied an equaliser from close range as Bayern München held firm in the closing stages. Abraham's late effort was kept out as Unai Emery's side pushed for a leveller.
Bayern München dominated possession with 56 percent and had 16 shots to Villa's eight. The Bundesliga champions also created more on target, registering eight efforts to three and winning seven corners to three.
The result brought both clubs' tours of Asia to a close ahead of the new domestic campaigns. Bayern München head into the new Bundesliga season as champions, while Aston Villa continue their build-up for the Premier League.
