Inter dropped points at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino as Torino fought back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw. Nikola Vlašić's penalty in the 79th minute rescued a point for the hosts after goals from Marcus Thuram and Yann Bisseck had put the visitors in control.
Inter arrived in Turin as Serie A's runaway leaders, sitting atop the table with 78 points from 33 matches. Torino, meanwhile, occupied 13th place with just 40 points and needed a result to climb away from the relegation battle. The visitors came into the match on an impressive run, having won their last three games without conceding.
Inter made their dominance count early. In the 23rd minute, Marcus Thuram broke the deadlock, giving the league leaders a commanding start. The away side controlled possession from the opening whistle, dictating the tempo with their superior passing accuracy and movement.
Torino struggled to gain a foothold in the first half. The hosts managed just 37 percent possession and found Inter's defense difficult to penetrate. Their goalkeeper made only one save as Inter's attacking play created limited clear-cut chances despite their control of the ball.
The second half began with Inter extending their advantage. Yann Bisseck fired home in the 61st minute to make it 2-0. The defender's goal appeared to have settled the contest, with Inter's defensive record and attacking quality seemingly too much for Torino to overcome.
However, Torino sparked to life. Giovanni Simeone pulled one back in the 70th minute, breathing new hope into the hosts. The goal energized the crowd and sparked a remarkable comeback attempt from the home side.
Nine minutes later, Vlašić stepped up to convert a penalty in the 79th minute, leveling the score at 2-2. The spot-kick proved to be the turning point, with Torino refusing to accept defeat despite being outplayed for large periods.
Both teams pushed for a winner in the closing stages. Inter's superior quality kept them dangerous, but Torino's resilience kept them competitive. The final whistle came with neither side able to find a breakthrough.
The statistics revealed Inter's dominance in possession and passing accuracy. The visitors completed 597 passes with 90 percent accuracy compared to Torino's 344 passes at 81 percent. Inter also registered five shots on target to Torino's two, though the hosts created 2.46 expected goals compared to Inter's 1.46.
Federico Dimarco starred for Inter with an 8.3 rating and two assists. Manuel Akanji and Bisseck provided solid defensive contributions, while Vlašić led Torino's efforts with a 7.5 rating and the crucial penalty conversion.
