Brighton & Hove Albion rounded off their pre-season preparations with a convincing 3-0 victory over AS Roma at the American Express Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The result marked a disappointing end to Roma's tour of the United Kingdom, with the Giallorossi soundly beaten by Premier League opposition on the English south coast.
Georginio Rutter opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finishing with a left-footed shot from outside the box into the top left corner to give the Seagulls the lead.
Yasin Ayari doubled the advantage five minutes before the break, cutting in from the right side of the box and firing a right-footed effort low into the bottom right corner.
Brighton went into half-time 2-0 ahead and firmly in control, having shown their superiority from the first whistle against a Roma side struggling to create clear chances.
The second half began with the hosts still on top and it took just four minutes for Ayari to add his second and Brighton's third of the afternoon.
Ayari's second was a right-footed shot from the centre of the box into the top right corner, with Rutter providing the assist after good work in the build-up.
Both sides turned to their benches after the hour mark as Brighton and Roma made a series of changes, with the pace of the friendly dropping as the afternoon wore on.
Roma pushed to find a response but were unable to break through a well-organised Brighton defence, with the hosts seeing out the final stages without major alarm.
The victory gives Brighton momentum heading into the new season, while Roma end their UK tour with another defeat and work to do before competitive action returns.
