Bosnia & Herzegovina secured a vital 3-1 victory over Qatar at Lumen Field thanks to clinical finishing in their World Cup clash.
Both nations entered the match searching for their first win of the tournament. Having earned just one point from their opening fixtures, a victory was essential to keep their knockout stage hopes alive in Group B.
Bosnia started the match on the front foot and controlled the early tempo with accurate passing. They looked dangerous from distance, testing the Qatari defensive line with several quick attacking transitions.
The pressure paid off in the 29th minute. Kerim Alajbegović found space near the edge of the box and drilled a powerful strike home to break the deadlock.
Just five minutes later, Bosnia doubled their advantage. A dangerous cross forced Qatari defender Meshaal Abunada to make a clearance, but he accidentally turned the ball into his own net.
Qatar responded quickly before the interval to keep themselves in the contest. In the 42nd minute, Hassan Al Haydos curled a fine effort into the corner after a clever pass from Edmilson Junior.

Bosnia controlled 56 percent of the ball and registered 14 shots during the match. Although Qatar finished with a similar expected goals rating of 0.67 to 0.65, Bosnia proved far more efficient.
The victory keeps Bosnia in contention for a spot in the next round. Meanwhile, Qatar faces a difficult final match as they look to salvage their World Cup campaign.
