Is Kylian Mbappé the Real deal?

Kylian Mbappé burst onto the scene with Monaco in 2015, exciting football fans all over the world with his incredible talent. Shortly after signing Neymar, PSG decided to bring the exciting young Frenchman to Paris after he finished Monaco’s 2016/2017 Ligue 1 title winning season with 15 goals behind the likes of top strikers such as Edinson Cavani, Alexandre Lacazette and Radamel Falcao.

Mbappé is part of a new France Football Federation (FFF) story. The successful squad of the late 90’s is now history, not that Mbappé would have much recollection of those successes having been born in December of that year - just after the historical World Cup win against Brazil in 1998. Not many players go to a World Cup at 18 years of age and perform the way he did in 2018, fully deserving of his FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award, with his goal in the final against Croatia being the icing on the cake. His performance in the game against Argentina was also outstanding and if there were any doubts this boy could play, then that game showed us what the young Frenchman could do.

Mbappé scored 27 goals in 60 games for Monaco, which is not bad at all, however, since signing for the French powerhouse PSG, he has notched up 154 goals in 204 games and he’s still only 23 years old. He is capable of playing anywhere across the frontline but interestingly, and courtesy of transfer markt, he has scored 110 goals from 145 games as a centre forward and 70 goals from 115 games playing on the wings. Mbappé is truly a world class player who can clearly score goals from anywhere but he is definitely at his most dangerous through the middle.

With this positional data in mind, this is where I believe Mbappé can take his career to even higher heights, which is a crazy thought considering he’s looked like the real deal for some time now. It feels like there is a changing of the guard round the corner for both France and Real Madrid, so could this be the perfect opportunity for Mbappé to put himself in the Ballon d’Or conversation and to win more trophies with his national team and one of the biggest clubs in world football?

The rumours are swirling that Mbappé is set to move to the Spanish capital, is he the Galactico they have been crying out for since Cristiano Ronaldo left? I think he most definitely is!
