Four For You - Gameweek 28

I will be trying my hand at fantasy football writing for the final 11 gameweeks of the fantasy premier league season. Each week I will be picking a player from each position that I think is the best play and the best value (points per million) that week in their position. It will be based on the FanTeam pricing (FPL pricing will also be provided). Only one player per club will be picked each week, to hopefully encourage some more differential player picks. The aim each week is to hit double figures with each player and one point per million with each player. I’ll keep a record of the results each week and for the remaining 11 weeks of this season. Please feel free to leave any feedback in the comments, all feedback is greatly appreciated.

Goalkeeper - Jose Sa (Wolves)

FanTeam - 5.0M

FPL - £5.3M

Jose Sa has been fantastic this season since replacing Rui Patricio as the Wolves goalkeeper. In gameweek 28 he plays Crystal Palace and Watford both at home, in 2022 Watford have failed to score in six of nine games, so there is potential for a second chance at a clean sheet if the palace game doesn’t provide one. He is averaging 3.46 saves a game and only averaging 0.81 goals conceded a game per FanTeam, so he should build up a few save points this gameweek. Sa is also the third highest scoring goalkeeper on FanTeam with 125.6 points behind only David De Gea and Ederson, so expect his strong fantasy season to continue here in a double gameweek, 5.0M is a steal.

Defender – Reece James (Chelsea)

FanTeam – 5.8M

FPL - £6.2M

It’s great to see Reece James back in the Chelsea squad after his injury lay off. There has been a lot of talk around Lukaku and his recent form and how important Reece James is to the Chelsea team. If Tuchel also believes that is the case, I am sure he will be looking to get James back in the starting line up as soon as possible after back to back sub appearances in the league cup final and fa cup fifth round in the past week. Burnley seems like the perfect game to bring James back into the fold and could his superb crosses into Lukaku be the best way to beat a well organised Burnley side? Back in November the two sides drew 1-1 and yes you guessed it, Reece James assisted Kai Havertz for Chelsea’s only goal, maybe a sign of what’s to come. An absolute bargain at 5.8M on FanTeam, with clean sheet potential in addition to attacking potential too. A little risky as he may not start, but well worth the risk for the upside in my opinion.

*edit 9:20am 3/3/22* After Chelsea‘s victory in the FA Cup fifth round they now have a double gameweek, adding a fixture away to Norwich, which I completely forgot about when publishing this morning. So this makes James even more appealing, looks a no brainer to me in your fantasy defence.

Midfielder - Raphinha (Leeds)

FanTeam - 7.5M

FPL - £6.5M

New manager bounce in a double gameweek, sign me up! Raphinha has continued to impress this season despite the poor form Leeds have been showing, providing nine goals and two assists for his fantasy owners. Neither Leicester or Aston Villa have watertight defences and Raphinha scored in the reverse fixture against Leicester. At Villa Park, Leeds and Aston Villa played out an entertaining 3-3 draw, granted that was under former manager Bielsa, but it was only last month. That game will be fresh in the minds of both teams and Raphinha could benefit from another open game with plenty of goals. Jesse Marsch will be desperate to get off to a good start, so Raphinha is certain to be the man he looks to to bring him success in these first two games under the Americans stewardship. At 7.5M on FanTeam Raphinha could be an absolute steal and could bring a lot of points to your team in gameweek 28.

Striker – Harry Kane (Spurs)

FanTeam – 11.4M

FPL - £12.3M

Harry Kane has not been himself this season since the Euro’s and the summer transfer saga in which he was involved in. However in the past three games he has notched 3 goals, blanking away at Burnley in between goals against a strong Man City and Leeds. This week he faces a struggling Everton side in a fourth consecutive away premier league game, the toffees are rock bottom of the away league table conceding 23 goals in 12 games. Both teams need a result in this match, so goals surely are a guarantee, Harry Kane is the main man for Spurs at the moment and he is the most in form striker on FanTeam (5.87) so the chances of him assisting or scoring in this game are extremely high. You’d expect him to take any penalties should Spurs win any, so that makes his 11.4M FanTeam price even more appealing as your premium forward in gameweek 28.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed my first attempt at fantasy football writing, any comments or suggestions please let me know in the comments.

*Edit 05/03/2022 7:30am All four recommended players coming into my team for a –12 hit, wasn’t sure about Sa as I don’t love making a goalkeeper transfer. But I’m sure he can make up the -4 and some over Pope. Gone for it this week with the -12 and Raphinha as captain too.
