F O U R F O R Y O U - Gameweek 35
Each week I will be picking a player from each position that I think is the best play and the best value (points per million) that week in their position. It will be based on the FanTeam pricing (FPL pricing will also be provided). Only one player per club will be picked each week, to hopefully encourage some more differential player picks. The aim each week is to hit double figures with each player and one point per million with each player. Please feel free to leave any feedback in the comments, all feedback is greatly appreciated.
Here are the results for last weeks picks(based on FanTeam pricing), for a pick to be correct it needs to hit on both double figures (DF) and points per million (PM):
Goalkeeper – Robert Sánchez (Brighton)
DF – 2.50 points ❌
PPM – 0.53 points ❌
Defender – Trent Alexander Arnold (Liverpool)
DF – 5.30 points ❌
PPM – 0.67 points ❌
Midfielder – Mason Mount (Chelsea)
DF – 7.30 points ❌
PPM – 1.01 points ✅
Forward – Chris Wood (Newcastle)
DF – 0 points ❌
PPM – 0 points ❌
Overall : 3-25
“Oh no, another 0-4! Another player not even making the squad and I picked the wrong Liverpool full back. Mason Mount, solely based on the fact he played two games got the closest to 10 points this gameweek. Week 35 is a single gameweek for every team so let’s see what we can find for a rare single gameweek at this stage of the season.
Goalkeeper – Ben Foster (Watford)
FanTeam – 4.2M
FPL - £4.1M
Ben Foster is my pick for the goalkeeper position this week. Foster averages just 2.36 saves a game on FanTeam and only 13.64% of games end in clean sheets for the Watford keeper, but one of those clean sheets this season came in a 0-0 against Burnley in their reverse fixture. True to his save stats he also made two saves in that fixture, so with a few more save points this time around and maybe a penalty save we might just climb to that 10 point total. You don’t get much cheaper than 4.2M on FanTeam at the goalkeeper position, so he could be amazing value, giving you room to make up some points elsewhere in your team.
Defender – Matty Cash (Aston Villa)
FanTeam – 5.1M
FPL – £5.2M
Matty Cash and Aston Villa face the lowest scoring away team this gameweek in the Premier League, Norwich. Norwich also failed to score earlier in the season when the two faced off at Carrow Road, so a Matty Cash clean sheet is a big possibility. Cash has hit double figures on three occasions so far this season, with him scoring his only goals of the season with one goal in each of those matches. Cash is only 5.1M on FanTeam which is an absolute bargain for a player who gets forward a lot and has the perfect fixture where returns can be had at both ends of the pitch.
Midfielder – Diogo Jota
FanTeam – 7.9M
FPL - £8.3M
I think Jürgen Klopp shuffles the pack away to Newcastle this gameweek and Diogo Jota should start this one after starting the Champions League tie in midweek on the bench. Jota has had a fantastic season, finding himself in the top ten fantasy scorers on FanTeam for the midfield position, with 15 goals and four assists. In the past five gameweeks he has three goals and two assists and he only played 90 minutes once in that run of games. Jota was very close to hitting 10 fantasy points against Newcastle earlier in the season with 9.10 points, so he’ll be hoping to deliver a similar return again for his manager if given the opportunity to start. Jota has been a good value all season and that’s still the case, 7.9M for a midfielder playing as a forward in one of the most exciting teams in the world is an absolute bargain.
Forward – Ivan Toney (Brentford)
FanTeam – 6.6M
FPL - £6.9M
Ivan Toney has had a fantastic season for the Bees, scoring 12 goals. He has hit double figures on FanTeam four times this season, which is impressive for a striker in a team recently promoted from the championship. Man Utd’s last clean sheet in all competitions was on the 26th February, over two months ago, so Toney who has the third most shots on target on FanTeam will definitely be looking to add to his 12 Premier League goals. Toney scored against Man Utd in the reverse fixture, and no doubt he will be pushing to do the same again with a mid-table finish in his and Brentford’s sights. Decent forwards are hard to find this season so 6.6M on FanTeam for Ivan Toney could prove a great value against a struggling Manchester United.
